Can I connect to my Standalone DVR with Windows 7

   With the release of the Windows 7, many customers have been upgrading their PCs.  So we have gotten many calls with questions in regards to Windows 7.  In short, yes…all of our H.264 Standalone DVR recorders are indeed compatible with the IE8 browser in Windows Vista and Windows 7, however, you may need to perform additional security configuration in order to view your security cameras on your Vista or Windows 7 PC first.

   If you have one of our H.264 Standalone DVRs, then YES you can connect to the DVR in Windows 7.  Many customers may have run into a problem with the security settings in Windows 7 (Internet Explorer 8).  Below we have provided easy instructions for setting up your PC to allow you to view your cameras through IE8 in Windows 7.  After your configure your internet explorer security settings, you will be able to view your cameras once again from anywhere in the world using your Windows 7 PC.  You will need to add the DVR’s page into the Trusted Sites of your Internet Explorer Web browser.

 

 

In your IE web browser, open up the page for your Standalone DVR…then go to Tools –> Internet Options

Click on the Security Tab –> Trusted Sites –> and click the “Sites” button

Add the Website to your trusted sites list, and ensure that the check box for “Require Server Verification (https:)” is unchecked…and click Close

Back at the Internet Options screen, click –> Custom Level then scroll down to find the Following:
1.  Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls –> Set to Prompt
2.  Initialize and script ActiveX Controls not marked as safe –> Set to Prompt

Click OK  and Click OK on the Internet Options menu.

Now refresh the page and you will be able to view your H.264 Standalone DVR in Windows 7
